About Autodefence


A one-stop shop for getting active, having fun, meeting new friends and mastering the exciting skills of dynamic and practical self defence!

Autodefence takes practical self defence skills and trains them to autonomy — so you can have the confidence that comes with possessing a flexible defence against aggression. Its techniques are quick because they’re direct. And because it uses turns and rotations to flow round force, it doesn’t matter whether you are big or small, strong or otherwise. That means it works and is suitable for you!

      

There are many reasons why people like you join us for training. You may wish to train because you want to be able to defend yourself and your family. You may wish to train as a form of recreation, to get active or because you’ve always wanted to master a skill like this. You may even want to train simply because it’s fun.

The benefits of practicing

Autodefence doesn’t just give you quick skills that can get you out of sticky (if not life threatening) situations. Because it’s so interesting to learn you’ll stick to it, ensuring health benefits for the long term. You won’t be exercising because you have to — you’ll be exercising as a by-product of learning clever skills.

Getting active can make you more proud of your physique and make you live longer so you can enjoy more future good times. The training programme

We believe in a positive training culture, employing the best of modern coaching and rapid development. Here’s what we don’t do: we don’t make the training seem more than it is by using jargon and pseudo science; we don’t make it longer than it needs to be by creating superfluous techniques and exercises; and we don’t get stuck in analysis paralysis. Our experience is that the best way to generate people who can do is to get on and do it, embracing the essential simplicity of the method and observing the principles that count.

We use a structured training programme that has been developed over many years to guide you through the training in a complete and progressive way. You’ll be supported in this programme by a personal progress chart that makes sure you learn in a linear and straightforward way — even if you miss training sessions.

      

Our teachers take your welfare very seriously and constantly supervise your practice.

Autodefence teaches a comprehensive system of skills. You can train to learn the complete programme if you wish, or you can train for a shorter time if you prefer. Our foundation grade, studied over the first ten weeks or so, can act as a course in basic self defence all by itself. You’ll learn useful skills right from day one so whether you train for three years or three months, it’ll be worth it.

      

The Method

Although the Autodefence training programme is new the skills we teach come from a long-established, Eastern self defence method known as Wing Tchun, in which our principal coaches and senior teachers are long established masters. Autodefence represents a cost effective, time effective and user friendly way of learning the skills of Wing Tchun, adding drills such as pad work and free training to promote rapid skill acquisition.
